"Why not?" Kally sneered slightly; even the most naive of minds couldn't bring themselves, probably, to believe what is said on the first try, especially like this. This, however, and seeing that Riley had likewise stopped somehow made Kally decide to lower her Aura Sword --- for once. Scrambled as the voice was, something didn't feel right. "Elaborate. How do you know what this matter is about to begin with? And if you claim to have our best interests in mind, what is your angle on doing this?"

"...!!!"
Kally's reaction was a natural one: she stopped, barely managing to parry the disarming blow beforehand, and immediately rocketed backwards away from Riley as she checked her HUD system; it wasn't a dream, and her armor was working properly, but the signal that tried to hail her wasn't from any UEG or even AOL signal she recognized. It wasn't even from Riley's transport. Then what could it be? There was only one way to find out...
Still keeping her eyes and Aura Sword trained at Riley, Kally silently willed her armor to patch the signal through and asked a single question:
"What is the meaning of this!?"

"And I will anyway, after this. It is nevertheless in my blood not to do anything less..."
That was all Kally needed to say. She angled her thrust slightly downwards and moved in, sharply blasting herself forward towards Riley; then, Kally pushed a leg up and she charged at Riley from beneath, slashing upwards once, followed by a second fluid slash to the right and a third combination jab of her Aura Sword in turn. None of them were fatal blows, strikes against the shoulder armors at best; Kally made sure of that, as the knowledge Riley possessed was too valuable --- and crucial to the UEG's survival, if they were true --- to be otherwise destroyed with him...

At that, Kally Lyedalla could only sigh --- almost wistfully, compared to her cold usual self. "I thought as much. I was specifically ordered to bring you in as an escaped prisoner, Lieutenant Riley, but I do admit that what you say implies matters greater than you." Then, as suddenly as she sighed, she entered a combat pose and raised her Aura Sword readily again. "Therefore if you believe what you said, you also know that I cannot disobey my orders for something without solid evidence. Not yet, not now.
"Then prepare yourself --- I can only promise you that after you have been rearrested, the torch you carry will be passed on; after I bring you in, I will investigate this matter on my own, and make sure that others do so as well." Kally's aura thrusters flared again, pointedly. "Have at you, then, Riley. The first move is yours...but if I were you, I'd take this chance to start fleeing."
* * *
And, of course, Kouji saw Kally's preparing to fight well enough, and knew that the worst was coming. He wanted to jump in, to help Dai's companion --- the fact that the man travelled with Dai so far already was enough for Kouji to trust his intentions --- but rushing into this battle not only would make matters worse for him, it would make matters worse for Dai, as well. What if Dai's companion didn't want help? What if he was hunted for a reason?
As such, with Fuunsaiki knowingly ready to pounce should the word be given, Kouji looked to Dai confusedly for what to do. "Should I go help him, Dai-han?"

"Atlas, an energy cannon!? That's absurd! A gun disguised as an elevator to space, and no satellites, has no target to aim against except---" The colonies, Kally suddenly realized as she stopped firing, although she continued to circle Riley at full speed in case he tried a sneak attack, and even the Aura Battler Trooper couldn't help but shudder a little at the thought, the AOL. If what Riley is saying is true, then it'll be the War of Ages all over again! And if someone had indeed talked Khall into creating that...then who would want another war to start? Yamato? Not possible, Yamato was destroyed...?
As an Aura Battler, her perception and intuition neared that of a genuine Newtype's, able to attune herself to every human's 'Aura' and sense motives using that emitted aura. And everything Kally had sensed of Riley's aura as he explained all that told Kally that he believed every word of it.
That meant either Riley was right, or Riley was insane. Either way was not pleasant.
"You believe every word you say, I can tell. Whether it is true is another matter. Without solid evidence, there is little I can do." Kally affirmed herself again and paused, hovering and pointing her Aura Sword at Riley again. "Christopher Riley. If you believe that what you say is the truth, are you willing to let me take you in so you can answer for your beliefs in public?"
* * *
Kouji suddenly narrowed his eyes as he spotted, hovering in the sky, two shapes seemingly facing off each other above a transport. Squinting, Kouji put his hand above his eyes to take a better look while Fuunsaiki paused in unison; one's armor was conventional enough, with large binders on its back, while the other seemingly had armor that resembled some sort of insect, in turn...
"Dai-han, do you see what I see?" Kouji piped up, tensing and readying himself for the worst. "Do you recognize either of them?"

"What Atlas really is...?"
Kally wasn't a veteran of the War of Ages for nothing; seeing Riley sidestep and attempt to circle behind her, Kally hurriedly recollected herself and thrusted forward sharply, rocketing away from Riley's slash; moving into a floating slide, Kally wheeled around, pushed to her right, and fired more autocannon rounds at him as she then effectively circled around, closer and closing more slowly, as if dancing around Riley and trying to inflict damage only bit by bit...
"What do you mean? You're saying that General Khall is using Atlas for someone else?" Despite knowing the risks of being distracted in combat, Kally had to ask. She, too, had her questions. "But what is his motive, then? No sane officer of the UEG would attempt what you imply he did!"
As their distances closed again, swerving to avoid solid locks, Kally then pulled herself further into the sky and struck out at Riley's Dobergun with her second cable talon.
But then again, Khall hardly classifies as sane, either...

"Is that so?" Kally sneered, swerving right to dodge the first of the dobergun blasts --- just as Riley soared into the sky and let loose a second shell at her with high velocities. Kally reacted in turn; her left arm cable talons shot out again accurately at the shell as it came at her, and the resultant explosion destroyed the shell and the cable talon, the talon's end burnt and dent. Keeping from recoiling at the explosion, Kally likewise soared quickly, almost a blur, underneath Riley, turned and then sharply rose in altitude, bringing her Dunbine armor up behind Riley...
Seeing that Riley had drawn his own Beam Saber, Kally wasted little time, raising her own Aura Sword, Kally slashed downwards unceremoniously towards him, the aura thrusters gaining her just that little more force at the same time. It was when they were almost face-to-face, swords locked, did Kally sneer again. "There must be some reason either way for General Khall to have you arrested. What, praytell, is that? What did you find to have that fate meted out on you, Riley?"

"Sure, Dai-han. Lead the way. I'll lead you to where Aya-han and Saki-han live. It'll be nice either way to see them again..." But I certainly hope to see Yumi-chan and Winnie-han there, too. With that, Kouji and Fuunsaiki beckoned, and began to follow Dai.
* * *
"That, too, is fine with me..."
With little else to do, Kally's aura thrusters burst once and her entire form charged straight at Riley, rapidly closing the distance. She remained quiet, her expression unreadable, as she and Riley began approaching; and then, with a small whistle from her lips, Kally moved first, within middling range of her opponent --- and punching out with her Aura Sword arm straight for him. All of a sudden, there was a small gusty sound, and without ado the cable talons on Kally's right forearm shot out, attached to chains, quickly towards Riley to spear him on the spot; at the same time, Kally sharply pulled herself back, so that while she would be prepared for any counterattack from Riley the tail end of the cable talon would --- theoretically --- just hit Riley's armor.
"Tell me, Riley," Kally asked mirthlessly. "What exactly influenced your decision to turn against the UEG?"

"That suits me perfectly. You were exactly the person I had been ordered to arrest..." With that, deliberately slow as if in a taunt, Kally brought herself into a float...then began slowly floating downwards, Aura Sword drawn, until she and Riley were face-to-face. Kally's eyes bore a slightly bitter gleam, glaring into Riley's own. "Christopher Riley --- it's been a while, yes. How would you prefer to play out this battle?"
* * *
"No, no! I'm not!" Kouji waved in nonacknowledgement, shaking his head. How could Dai even think this of him? Mel was his friend, too; if she and Dai could find each other, all the better for them all. "Sincerely, I hope you do find her, Dai-han...I want to help, but I had not seen you until today. You know me, remember? Always wishing for happy endings? I..."
At that, Kouji flustered. Fuunsaiki whinnyed in agreement. "...Still do, even now. So don't say things like that, okay, Dai-han?"

Other than...that, Dai-han hadn't changed much. Still very serious, Kouji noted wistfully. This was, indeed, the Dai he knew from the Shining Hope, and to think anything less was a mistake. He nodded. "Is he well? I think Yumi-chan and Winnie-han might have left for Aya-han's place; it's a good place to go. But you mentioned a setback...if I may ask, what are you doing here, Dai-han?"
* * *
Kally's eyes narrowed, the transport in sight below and in front of her; it was indeed the one that Riley had hijacked from holographics sent to her by Costa Rica, and although she couldn't help but feel a little annoyed that she had been made to travel for nothing, that had been replaced with calmness again as she then brought her concentration to bear with her mission.
With that, as Kally's speed increased to full, bringing her Dunbine armor into a very nimble strafe, she raised the autocannon on her left arm and trained it to bear with the transport.
Christopher Riley, step to the front!!!
And, strafing the transport, Kally fired and sent a hail of autocannon bullets streaming quickly towards the enemy transport...

"Dai-han? Is that you?" Said MS Guy hadn't left yet; with Fuunsaiki prancing along cautious/happily next to him, Kouji dashed past the wreckage of Yumi's former home and towards one of his friends from the Shining Hope. He was smiling, despite the carnage around him; Dai was always a pleasant surprise to see, as he had not heard from her ever since the crew parted ways three years ago. Of course, the warm smile on Kouji's face was also to make Dai forget about a certain detail both of them would rather forget. "Konbanwa! It's so nice to see you again! How've you been? Is Omega around, too?"
After nodding in greeting and with the pleasantries out of the way, Kouji's smile died down as he and Fuunsaiki turned to the ruins. The boy's eyes dimmed slightly as he sighed. "Looks like something happened here and we're too late to help. But," Kouji added, raising his voice optimistically and shrugging. "I didn't find any bodies. And if Yumi-chan and Winnie-han haven't been killed, they won't be captured, either. So I'm almost sure they're alright..."
* * *
"Major Lyedalla!"
"Yes?" Kally replied, bringing herself into a stand as she left her seat and began walking towards the EWACs section of the Powergame. Kally's expression was as calmly cold as ever; this had better be good. She stood beside the EWACs officers operating the consoles at the section and squinted at the sensor screens. "Go on. Have you found something?"
"We have, Major. A transport, seemingly one of ours, but it's far out of place. It's landed nowhere in particular for some reason; the nearest friendly air base is more than 10 minutes away from where it landed."
Kally's eyes betrayed no pride. "Where?"
"New Mexico. A few miles away from Millenium."
And then there was no doubt. A transport, disobeying standard protocol and landing in the countryside so close to Millenium? It's not one of ours, most likely, Kally sneered derisively, crossing her arms and keeping herself silent. Even if it isn't Riley, it's worth investigating. "Open the rear drop doors. I'm sallying out."
"Yes, ma'am," Was the reply. "I'll have two Heavygun troopers awaiting your orders there---"
"There's no need." Kally simply said, walking away. "I can handle this alone. Bombard that location and the transport indiscriminately if you lose my signal --- because if that happens, you'll know that I've been killed." And Kally left the EWACs section with that before anyone could stop her. "Now get right on it." As Kally then walked into the rear sections of the transports, the rear drop door opened, enveloping the area in a harsh gust of wind; without ado and barely acknowledging the others around her, Kally unceremoniously then leapt out this door, into the open skies, and then began free-falling...
Only to slow down and begin hovering moments later, her Dunbine armor blasting off quickly as aura thrusters kicked in, eyes narrowed at her targets. Then, in a continuing burst of blue drive fire and stars, Kally pulled her distance from the Powergame and was soon out of sight.

As Souffle slowly drifted into sleep on the ground, her thoughts still ran for awhile despite her eyes being closed. But...why would that person attack Yumie? Who was he? Is he going to be coming back? And...and... Souffle shivered uncomfortably for a moment. Why do I feel so uncomfortable seeing him? Sure, he just tried to kill Yumie, but this is different...why? Will he find his way here? At least Miss Aya's place is nice and safe...Yuki's cute, too...Where can I find another DVD Player...Zzzzzzzz... * * * New YorkIn a maddening blur, the Rick Dias trooper's vulcan phalanx fired a steady stream of bullets into the waterway ahead of him, conjuring smoke and dust all over the place. He was panting with exhaustion, his suit ripped open at the right torso by something strong, roughly, revealing slightly torn and bleeding flesh underneath. The trooper didn't dare stop; if he did, he was dead, and the phalanx kept blazing as he held his Clay Bazooka in his other hand. Eventually, when the phalanx ran out of ammunition, the trooper stopped and the waterway fell quiet again; nothing came save his own panting, and the dust obscured everything else in front of him. Thought returned to him; the trooper wondered how his partner was doing, and whether or not he managed to escape the Creature that lurked in the waterways beneath New York. Wedge hoped he did. Vicks and Wedge, Rick Dias troopers extraordinaire, came to New York to hunt down the Creature that had lurked underneath New York's sewers for over a year now, preying on the unlucky. It was a legendary creature, and one that was dangerous enough; rumors had it that the creature was a minion of the undead, a walking animated corpse, silver in color and rotting. It was too unbelievable to be a Bioweapon, too unworldly not to be one; many MS Troopers had already came to New York hunting it, and Vicks and Wedge were by no means the first--- Then, there was the sound of footfalls in water that came towards Wedge; Wedge's heart leapt, and in desperation he raised his Clay Bazooka in defence. Somewhere between finding the Creature and running from it, Wedge had lost both Beam Pistols and his Beam Saber; whatever that creature was, only the Bazooka protects him from it now. His thrusters were exhausted temporarily from all the escaping. Wedge, at first, seemingly need not have bothered. The shape of another Rick Dias trooper began appearing in the dust, one that Wedge recognized. Wedge sighed in relief, lowering the bazooka as his partner approached. "Vicks! Where'd you been, man? I was wondering about---oh, God..." His relief was short-lived; Vicks, while alive, would not be for long, as the dust parted soon enough to reveal what really had happened to him. Wedge's eyes widened in horror, him backing off away in fright; Vicks reached out for him with one weak hand, the other clutching his stomach...where a gigantic, bleeding gash could be seen, tearing through armor, flesh and fat, his hand keeping his life's blood and inner organs from welling out of him. His blood bled, staining the water beneath red, and as Vicks wobbled towards Wedge, his friend kept backing away in pure fear... And then, Vicks fell dead, and behind him was the creature of Wedge's nightmares. Walking slowly towards him, the Creature revealed itself --- flaking skin at places covering bone, skull bald and without skin, a pair of pink-pupiled eyes glaring angrily at Wedge. The entire Creature's body was silver-colored, with hexagon-shaped cells all over it and comprising its entirety... With great speed, it pounced towards Wedge. Wedge raised his Bazooka and fired. The Clay Bazooka round unceremoniously exploded on the Creature's left chest, and in a flash of metal and light, a hole exploded wide into it as torn flesh flew and exploded outwards; the Creature reeled back, while Wedge panted, hoping, wishing for a miracle, and three steps back the Creature stopped itself...and smiled. It didn't even seem hurt. And then, Wedge's final horror came. The wound began closing itself, closing, silvery cells duplicating over where the bazooka round had exploded...and in only a second, the Creature's wound closed as if it was never there. It looked up and glared at Wedge. Fool, it spat, its mouth gaping and hanging by a thread from its skull. Many others had tried. What makes you think this will be different...?Then all hope left, and the Creature took its time, walking towards Wedge with sturdy steps; Wedge could only shiver in fright and near insanity, and even he would be spared of that. All the Creature needed to do was raise its hand and punch out with unnatural strength, and as silver fist connected with head and skull, Wedge's head burst open on contact, ripping his existence out of him violently. Now be reborn into a new order...-Cyb

"Hehe! Thank you, Miss Saki!" Souffle giggled, placing her hands behind her back and turning around casually. She always wanted to know how it felt to be an adolescent, a grown-up, and this was the reason --- the other was that it was one of Cybbie's wishes when he was still alive --- Souffle had her body remetabolized and her old integrated Phoenix Gundam armor replaced; now and then, however, it still felt good to revert to the child she and Yumi knew. "Don't feel bad, Miss Yuri --- you're probably just missing something important. Did you remember to send out the invitations?"

"It's nice to see you, too, Miss Aya!" Souffle waved, and grinned at Saki and Yuri as well. "You too, Miss Saki, Miss Yuri. Why aren't people going to your parties?"
* * *
"What...what happened here!?" Kouji blinked in disbelief, walking and browsing around the ruins that used to be where, to the last of Kouji's knowledge, where Yumi, Winnie and Souffle lived. It looked like he was too late, for one, for neither of the women were nowhere to be seen; it also looked like the house was destroyed by a great fire or weapons fire. Kicking apart the wreckage, Kouji kept himself collected as he continued browsing; Fuunsaiki helped likewise, patrolling the area with great speed.
It was to Kouji's relief and collectedness that he found no bodies; Yumi and Winnie were some of the best MS Troopers of the day, and if they weren't killed, they mostly likely weren't captured, either. But he still want to make sure. "...If I was Yumi, where would I go?" Kouji asked, partially to himself and partially to the wandering Fuunsaiki as the Mobile Horse walked up to him again, neighing slightly. Kouji rubbed his chin, trying to think. "I'd go somewhere nearby and safe, for one, most likely a friend we all know. But which friend?
"---Aya-chan's place! That's most likely where they are!" At that, Kouji mounted Fuunsaiki again and, steadying himself, frowned as he checked his bearings. "I just hope I haven't guessed wrong. What's going on around here, anyway...?"
* * *
"Explain to me," Kally coldly demanded, her face appearing to others through the computer terminal she was using on the military transport Powergame, leaning back and glaring with bitterness. "How Christopher Riley managed to sneak right into the base facility again, take a transport, and blast off without being harassed when it was already ordered that a high-priority alert be placed for him."
"We never saw it coming, Major, Was the nervous reply from the officer Kally was talking to at Costa Rica. "We didn't think Riley would be that bold to return to the base again. When it blasted off, we thought it was one of ours. It was only after we checked the schedules did we find out---"
"No excuses. Just do your job." With that, Kally flicked the switch and the terminal switched off. She frowned. There were only two possibilities here; one was that Riley planned to leave the Americas and head for neutral territory where he could then leave for space and seek refuge with the AOL, and the second was that Riley was going to try for North America. Audacious as Riley was, Kally didn't think he'd dare try for South America when Jaburo --- now the largest UEG Military Headquarters and Base Facility in the world --- was prepared for him...
Either way, Kally would have to keep watching, and prepare for any unexpected moves from her prey. Riley had proven more clever than the UEG had thought; Kally intended not to be fooled again. If only Jerid Albright was still alive and working for the UEG, after all...

And even though Souffle had absolutely no clue what Winnie and Yumi meant by their previous statements, she somehow knew exactly who Winnie was talking about. They otherwise knew, after all, where only one other of their friends lived; it was as if they could go anywhere else, but Souffle winced and covered her ears to brace herself for Yumi going ballistic on them again. "We're...going to see Miss Aya? For real? Are you sure she'll let so many people in, though?"
