The barren, ruined field has life on it's field for the first time in decades. Ai sits on his brown horse, wearing a full suit of plate armor, with a large halbred. 3 groups of soldiers stand in front of him, 2,000 archers with longbows, 4,000 medium armors cavalry., and 4,000 heavy foot soldiers. They footmen take the position farthest from Ai, followed by the cavalry, and Ai stands next to the archers. Banners of white and blue bear his crest, and his soldiers wear the same colors. The footmen form a long line, consisting of 10 rows of men, 400 men long. The cavalry take a similar position, and ready their spears. Ai shouts over the desolate field.
"I will face anyone who has faith in an army of 10,000 to do battle with me! The army may consist of any troops, of any type, excluding magic. This is the medeival ages. Don't try anything not possible. Come, if you dare!"
Ai's troops let out a loud cheer, and pump their weapons into the air.

*Loud "Whooah!"s and shouts are heard throughout the land and over the hills. Creeping over the hills, lines of troops, 8 rows of 500 of medium calvary march in rhyme and step towards Ai's army. The line of ten drummers in the front keep the pace to a steady pound. Craze, also clad in armor and helmet, carrying a bladed spear and a flag potruding from his back, waving he symbol of an Orange with three daggers sticking into it, barely so they can seen potruding out. Craze yells Halt from the tops of his lungs and the steady march drums stop the marching men to a steady halt. Craze raises his staff into the air in a semi-circle, the troops pound their shields and stomp their boots and shaketh the ground. 2 rows of 500 heavy calvary are on the left and right of the square shaped rows of the mediums. Then, one row of 500 of heavy calvary line themselves infront of the mediums, with the last 500 scattered in the middle of the mediums. 2990 archers fall behind them, bows at their sides. Craze then, on his horse, rides infront of his men.*
We shall taketh thy enemy--thee.
*He points to the opposing Ai army and the Craze's army shouts*
Want a challenge, they shall have. But, nay, they shall never drink from the fountain of victory nor eat of thy fruit of our land!
*Shouting goes on.*
William Tells! Arm thy arrows!
*The archers take their arrows and steady their bows.*
John Henrys! Take up your ground!
*The front heavy calvery kneel, holding their sheilds to protect the first front of mediums.*
Second line of mediums, nose bleed section! Run in place!
*The second line of 500 mediums start running in place, building their vigor and ready to battle thy foe.*

Viper stands on a hill, shelled in the finest italian platemail. He surverys his troops. In his army he has 1,000 longbow men, 3,000 medium calvary, 1,000 heavy calvary, armored in italian platemail (italian platemail is strong, and flexible, allowing maximum prtoection, and mobility), 1,000 celtic warriors, armed with large bearded axes, 2,000 heavy infantry, armored in itialian plate mail, and armed with a mix of maces and war hammers, 1,000 light infantry, armed in the same way as the heavy infantry. A courier is sent across the field, bearing the banner of a large red dragon
I accept your challenge. May the best man have the field.
Viper orders the celts to the front of the line, in 4 rows of 250 men. Behind them he places his light infanty in the same formation, and a division of heavy infantry on the other side, again same formation. Behind them he keeps a division od heavy infantry in reserves, and his calvary, ready for a charge. He then orders his archer to the front

Ai rides out to the front of his men, grinning wildly.
"My men! My brothers! My children! Fight for your honor today! Fight for your reputation! These two armies come to match us. We may not have the advantage of sheer power, or advanced armor, but we are without a doubt the best guided."
He pivots on his horse, and thrusts his spear in Craze's direction.
"The banner of orange daggers first! We shall smite them there, then eliminate the other. Onward, my country-men! Destroy the bastards who dare scar our name! GO!"
The lines of footmen and cavalry seperate into forces of 1,000 and 3,000 on each side, with the forces of 3,000 charging for Craze's men. The footmen are ahead of the horsemen, running, while the horses are at a steady pace behind them.
Ai pumps his empty fist into the air. A sub-commander takes a banner with the symbol of a bow on it, and waves it. The archers load their bow, and take aim into the sky.

From the forested mountains in the distance, movement disturbes the tranquil east. A cloud of dust slowly rises up, as another army appears on the field. They have no drums or insturnments: the regular thumping of armored feet is all the cadance this battle-hardened troupe needs.
Leading the pack, five paces in front, is Manae. His armor is heavy; thick with little areas to penetrate, and hides of wolves and bears hang about as both a cape and covers. On his waist is clipped a tapered broadsword, and on his back is a short spear. He carries the main banner: plain white, with an inverted hammer within a field of flame. Having seen many battles, it has tattered edges, blowing around wildly.
Directly behind, a phalanx of 5000 heavy infantry keep a tight formation. Each carries a long spear in their hands, with a short broadsword on the waste and a hand-and-a-half on the back. In their off-hands, they hold tower shields. Though narrower than their bodies, they are easily five feet tall. Their armors are highly similar to Manae's, lacking the fur. Some are missing small pieces, but such parts are mostly extra protection anyway. They march in rows of 100.
Flanking the phalanx on both sides are groups of 1250 cavalry. The armored warhorses keep a pace even with the rest of the troop as they carry their charges. Each rider is lightly-armored, wearing only medium plates to protect the torso and head. Their gloves and boots have light plating worked onto the leather, but the upper arms and leg are protected only by maille. The armored saddle is their primary protection for such sensitve areas. Each carries a javalin-like spear which can mount on the saddle, as well as a longsword. On their backs are shortbows and a quiver of fifty arrows.
Behind the phalanx, 2250 archers march in formation as well. Each has a strong, composite longbow, and wears a large quiver filled with arrows, easily two-hundred and fifty each. Each also has a shortsword in case of close combat. They wear light armor, mostly maille, but also some light plating where it won't hurt their job (mainly the legs, and some torso plating). Each wears a heavy bracer with plating on the outside as well. As another measure, each archer has a medium crossbow on their back. While the range isn't as good, the penetration once in range can go through even medium plate.
Filtered amoung the archers are 250 sheild bears. Each has a shortsword, and also a large sheild to protect the archers. They also have several quivers each: over 1000 arrows to replenish depleted supplies. They wear only light maille.
As they get closer to the battle, the calvary fans out, forming a quarter-circle off each end of the phalanx, bowing back. The archers fill in the created void. As the army stops advancing, Manae moves to ten paces ahead.
Drawing out his sword, he holds it up and shouts:
Hold your lines! You've been here before, and know what to do. Archers! Hold your arrows at the ready, and block out the sun as the enemy dares approach!

Viper rides out in front of his troops, his heaavily armored horse's armor, glistening. He stands out and holds high his lance, the tri point looking menacing.
Arise my brothers! today we will defeat the armies before us! We will ride out, and take the heads of our enemies! Blood shall be spilled! Arrows shall fly, and the sound of our horses shall shake the earth beneath us! we shall take out the new comer first, then we shall cut down the rest!
Viper orders the Celts to fall back out of archer range, knowing that the lightly armored men won't withstand an attack. He then orders the long bow men to just out of range of manae's archers.
Fire high then low at his infantry.
The archers fire at a high trajectory, the quickly fire low, the long, narrow tipped arrows screaming at 2 differant angles towards manaes infantry
That should soften them up.

Considering that the front archers are at the most only a few dozen yards from the front, the well-trained army needs no command to know the lower arrows are little threat, destined to fall short and break in the dust.
The infantry hold their sheilds up, the arrows glancing harmlessly off.
With a small wave of his hand, Manae has the front ten rows split in half, covering the front of the calvalry, while the remaining forty rows step forward, forming up. The calvalry remains bowed back, protecting both the archers and any flanking attempts.
What the hell was he hoping to prove?
EDIT: <OOC: Looks slowly left... slowly right...
Somebody bloody post already! Ai, maybe we should drop them and do this ourselves...>
