Have you noticed that its like our own Media just likes to make things up to get us screwed over? I mean, its like they want bad shit to happen so they can have a great story.
Think about it. The whole "Guatanmo Prison Koran Abuse scandle". They made a big deal about this, there were reprecussions in the middle east.
What does it end up?
20 cases. Fifteen by PRISONERS THEMSELVES, and the remaining five are all purely ACCIDENTAL or CIRCUMSTANCIAL (man walking by accidentally kicks Koran, the flushing incident I believe is believed not to have happened).
The media concentrates on the negatives of everything. The Iraq War seems pretty bad right now, very bad, don't it? People dying daily... but how many of them (the enemy) are being killed? Captured? If you look for it you may be able to find it from various sources, and it may suprise you. We're looking at a HUGE ratio right here of losses. Yes, we're talking about human lives, but they are accenting the loss of the life and not what they lost their life for. Its like mourning someone for dying, not for what they achieved in their death. Those who sacrificed themselves remembered just from dying, but not what they died for, so to speak figuratively.
Its sort of ironic... we lost around 1,200 people in World War II in a training operation in preperation for D-Day. I mean lord. Thats a hell of alot of people. THAT is something to gawk at.
Its seriously like our own media wants us to do worse, have something bad happen or something just so they can do a story about it. *sigh*

For once I agree with the whole of my heart and mind, Zorak.

I dunno. It seems to me that the spin the general media puts on things reflects a democratic agenda that bitches about everything it can tie to the Bush administration. Plus bad news just sells better, and when it comes down to it- every newscast is just another commercial mechanism for its parent company.

The media's been sucking Bush's cock since he's been in office. They really haven't questioned anything. They just report everything he's done, just like they would do for any other person in politics. Remember the Dean Scream? Oh, yeah, REAL Democratic slant there. But, yeah, the media is all about sensationalism. If there isn't a real breaking story, they'll drop everything and try to make something rather mundane (like a murder trial) and turn it into the "Case of the Century of the Week). Then when something else comes up, they drop that last story like a hotpotato. It's all about sensationalism.

How are they "sucking Bushes' cock"? Nearly every agency seems to be trying to find some way to make anything Bush does into "Zomg he needs to be impeached" or "zomg this is horrid". The Media's coverage of the Iraq War is self explanatory of their stance, period.

The Media's coverage of the Iraq War is self explanatory of their stance, period. Not really. Maybe on those stupid Crossfire shows, but on the regular news it's all, "Aww, look what he's doing. Isn't it cute?" They glorify his little talks with other people, and then switch gears to the war, which they just tell death tolls, but don't blame anyone except the insurgents. Addition: If everyone was all "Impeach Bush," it'd be another Clinton fiasco or another Nixon, which it is clearly not. But I'll contract the sucking off of the Bush part. Just seems to me like they make it seem that he can't do no wrong. It's only the commentators who say anything (and not the ones on Fox News). Fox news does have its mouth firmly wrapped around Bush's cock, though.

The media, as is, reports what it deems facts and figures. Nowhere will they say, "What the hell is Bush up to now? That retarded fool will be the end of us all!" That would make them appear opinionated, and people would get pissed off and they'd be unable to hold a job in standard media (although the alternative media would be glad to have them at that point).
The facts they present, however, put a spin on what is actually going on. The best case I can site is what Zorak opened us up with. Yes, death is horrid- but overlooking the meaning behind the loss serves only to make the war and all those involved with its furthering appear a total farse. Not to mention that it degrades their sufferings to being meaningless to overlook entirely the fact that most of them signed up to do exactly what they did, and all know exactly the possible cost from the start.
When foreign diplomacy moves forward, they mention it briefly. When a busload of Iraquies are blown up, they're in a race to be the first to report it and have their exclusive 10-minute expose. The next day, when it comes to light that it was militants and not US troops who were responcible, they issue a 1-line retraction just before a commercial break.
Then there's the "The President's Drug Plan- Does it Rreally Work?" stories. Without blatantly saying it, they will make every point within a story to prove that the government is headed by monkies in pajamas intent on screwing over the little man. The rebuttle side of the story is one man they interviewed saying, "My drug plan works for me." After which, they promptly state that most people aren't so lucky and proceed to continue making the case that the Conservative agenda is ruining America.
Now, if you have something to say- by all means say it! Come on the air and say, "I think that what Bush is doing is wrong, and that America needs change." That's fine. But don't try to pass it off as news and facts. That's just lame.
(Note: I'd feel the same way about this, even if things were the other way around. Frankly, Bush is a good president in my opinion, but far from great. He's done what he thinks needs doing, but he's overlooked certain things and made decisions I think are not in the best interest of the future of America.)
EDIT: Also, Goj is right about Fox News. They tend to do the opposite, putting a Republican "quit ragging on Bush, you pussies" spin on things.
