Confirming what Aries has believed for years. You're born weird. You just get more vocal with it as y'go.

First of all, if this is to be seriously discussed, it should probably be moved. And secondly, that's an awefully big conclusion to jump to based on one series of tests...

But it's one series of tests on the part of the body we understand. I mean, it's the part of us that reacts when we get horny, ya know?

Oh, I know. I'm just saying that it's interesting, but only a part of the evidence that would be needed to prove this thing one way or the other. Declaring it the breakthrough that proves homosexuality is a born trait is quite a leap imo.

I don't think so. Xtermo. We're talking about the hormones that make us horny, right? Well, when males get off of male hormones, that's homosexuality. Bam. Pretty much closes the case.
Besides, this isn't the first or only test, and it probably won't be the last, but everything does point to homosexuality as a born trait.

So much for this being discussed seriously.... Anyways, doesn't this make homosexuality more of a genetic defect?

Well, that's more of an ethical kind of issue. Sure, it may be some kind of defect, but we have to treat them as equally and fairly as we treat people with blindness, deafness, wheelchair-bond. Their life-style isn't a choice, it's genetic, and who are we to tell them how and how not to live their own lives? That's why all of this anti-gay bullshit pisses me off; they don't understand that they're people like you and me but born slightly different.
Although I think the whole homosexuality issue should be looked at like how people should and shouldn't view other ethnicities. A lot of the arguments that the anti-gay community puts out could have the word "homosexual" replaced with "African American" and you'd get the same arguments against the Civil Rights Movement (of course, they'd be more deragotory terms i.e. "fag" and "nigger").

Assuming we don't see a catastrophic resurgence of conservatism, I think it's all a matter or time. As Goji alluded to, fifty years from now, I'm guessing that the homophobic will be looked on as we now see segregationist. That is, homophobia won't completely disappear, but the majority of the population will have its rights and wrong worked out.

Of course, because no matter how you look at it, what we're dealing with is discrimination, pure and simple.

they're people like you and me but born slightly different. You do realize Goji that this test doesn't prove that they were BORN like that. It does show that it does have actual biological backing, but since they tested it on gay MEN, it doesn't prove that it is present at birth. Edit: and one more thing, we see RACISTS as bad, not SEGREGATIONISTS. Will you all get your facts right in this thread here.

Edit: and one more thing, we see RACISTS as bad, not SEGREGATIONISTS. Will you all get your facts right in this thread here. Point 1: Seeing that it is biological, it might as well be as good as being born with it. Either way, it's not a choice like from homophobic fundies might want you to believe. Point 2 (the edit): Segregationists are worse than standard racists, but are still racists. Segregationists are the one that fought against the Civil Rights movement, trying to keep their so-called "seperate but equal" (even though it was far from equal) doctrine. You know what Segregation is, right? When you weren't allowed to use a certain resturaunt, or sit in a certain seat on the bus, or use the same water fountain as a white man because you were a black person. Ellis has his facts straight, but I think you might be a little backwards.

Ellis has his facts straight, but I think you might be a little backwards. point 1: no. Having something biological is not in anyway as good as saying you were born with it. Ever had the flue? That's biological right. Were you born with the flue? No. You are just like the "homophobic fundies" that say you aren't born gay, you're so blinded by facts you think prove your side that you don't even see that they don't prove what you think they prove. I'm not saying that being gay isn't something you're born with, I'm merely saying that this test doesn't concretely prove it. Point 2: Do you know what segregation is? Once again you have bought into what America has turned certain words into without seeing what they actually mean. Segregation is not racist in anyway. Racism is when you discriminate against a race in a demening manner. Segregation is seperation, nothing more. White people have a restaurant, Black people have a restaurant, but they are EQUAL in every way. What America turned Segregation into was exactly what they turned Slavery into, a perverse definition of something that is nowhere near as bad as what it actual means. Many people, even those not of White ethnicity, approve of Segregation, because it builds the development of different cultures, instead of just having everyone exist in the same society and not develope any individual cultures. Don't tell me i don't know what segregation is. You are the one who obviosly doesn't know what he is talking about.
