Ok, I've had my discontent with the local police department for years, them being the lapdogs of the school board in my area, but now it's all just exploded. Last Tuesday, a woman I was working with, complained about being stalked by a guy, and the stalker came to McDonalds to specifically harass her, bad move, esspecially with her boyfriend there. There were fears of a fight between the boyfriend, and the stalker, but nothing happened. When the boyfriend left at midnight, he called the police in fear of her life. And that was at midnight, want to know how long it took them? Three hours, three hours to get their asses out of their chairs at the department, and drive for three minutes. So tell me, please, how can it take them three hours to reach a McDonalds that they always go to for food? I guess it was a busy night for speeders, wasn't it? The police car parked on some landscape, tires crushing grass, while waiting for someone to speed. I mean, that's all I can think of them doing, in fact, every time I see one of their police cars, that's what they're doing, sitting on their asses, and waiting for speeders, or immediately head to some school for some idiot's idea of joke. Well, enough ranting there, does anyone know what they did next? Did they ask for a description of the guy? No, instead they yell at the woman for, and I quote, "wasting their time." I guess when it all comes down to that, we're just wasting their time whenever we call the police to report a crime.

It's true, a lot of policemen are just plain assholes. We honestly believe that the cops in New Orleans were the bullies of their schools and just got to the next level. I don't understand why they act like they do. They are supposed to be protectors of the people, but they just end up looking like asses. And then they want fucking pay-raises. Now, this is not all cops. I know of some very good officers out there, it's just that there are the assholes who give them their bad names.
And don't get me started on police brutality and incompetence. You know, stun guns aren't supposed to be lethal weapons and used repeatedly on children.

You weren't perchance the boyfriend?
But yeah that does sound odd. I'm not sure if its corruption which would be them laundering money and taking bribes. Or it is just plain the pitfalls of inadequate local law enforcement. If you could get people to band together and vote only for local candidates who will clean up the police force that might help. Also you should probably check into how much of a traffic ticket quota the police need to meet. It tends to be towards the beginning and ends of months cops give out a lot more tickets at the local level. But what there doing in your town is just plain wrong.

You weren't perchance the boyfriend? No, I wouldn't have called the police, I don't trust them enough to deal with anything, except for car accidents. Heh, funny thing is that the police went to my high school, to break up a sit in when the principal had suspended freedom of speech, what they did was beat the students, that's all. Even more funny is that they were there within five minutes. But I know there are good cops as well, such as a cop that always comes around, and gives us Little Caesar pizza, and bread sticks. Politicians? Feh, they'd only debate about it, pass a bill, and there will still be corrupt cops. Oh, and Mal? The woman is twenty three, she's hardly a teenager.

To the contrary of the general attitude towards the police in this thread, I'd just like to say that from where I stand the police in my area do a mighty-fine job, without having to resort to being assholes.
That is all.

hey idiot, I'm talking about the ones in my town. It's funny that I knew what you meant by "harsh", while others would ask for a clarification. And hopefullly they stay that way.

Politicians? Feh, they'd only debate about it, pass a bill, and there will still be corrupt cops. Yes politicians would debate and pass a bill thats what you have to do. Its part of the system of modern government. But if you want change you have to get the head cop's bosses to fire him and replace him. There will always be corrupt cops, but if there as incompetant and unqualified as you describe you have to do what you can about it.
