Fuck the FCC. They're a bunch of stupid cunts who won't take the blame for themselves. They'd rather attack things they don't like and use children as a cover. The FCC and anyone like them are fuckign pathetic pieces of shit. What's that? You don't like my strong language? Well fuck you.
Did I mention I hate the FCC?

The FCC and anyone like them are fuckign pathetic pieces of shit. What's that? You don't like my strong language? Well fuck you. Did I mention I hate the FCC? Wait, you hate the FCC? I couldn't tell. Eh, the FCC is a bunch of parents who blame video games for their children's bad behavior, instead of their own inept parenting, which eventually leads to crimes, and many prisoners are the victims of child abuse, but the media turns away, and blames video games, hell, the Columbine kids who went on a killing spree did that because they were picked on a daily basis. Oh, it's not the bully's fault, it's those damn video games. The more simplified version is: They attack Video Games because they can't attack people.

Part of it is the parents fault.
Another part is the kids fault themselves. Many of us here play video games. Do we all of a sudden when say one of us get picked on start thinking "I'm going to come to school tommorow with an AK47 and blow everyone away".
You know why?
...
Because its stupid. You have to be a very weak minded and weak willed person to do something like that. It is just plain stupid as fucking hell, and if you are too stupid to figure out that "Hm! Bringing a gun to school is not a good idea!" then you are one stupid ass fucker and probabally shouldn't be playing video games.

Yes, but the kids should know right from wrong by their parents. If they keep active in the kid's lives, and talk to them about things that are serious, such as guns and whatnot. I'm not saying I'm perfect. Hell, I've probably had more violent thoughts than most other people, but I'm not an idiot. I'm a rational thinking person who knows right from wrong, because of his parents. When outside influences overpower parents, they need to take action, not blame someone else.

Zorak, how do you think the kids are missing what is supposed to be common sense? If their parents aren't active with them, then they would be less knowing of certain things, if they live in a home with abusive parents, then they will be more likely to lash out at the outside world.

FCC is an unconsitutional organization, death to censorship. The government doesn't have to support any form of speech but they should protect its right to show anything in any venue so long as no physical harm is being done. This mentality is the same thing every generation has. Jazz and alcohol, then rock, then the beatles the most idealistic band ever, then heavy metal, and now video games. Its basically all fear of change and proof old people hate the 1st amendment.

It's not even so much that, it's lazy bloody parents.
Y'know this whole V-chip thing? It's parents trying to be parents without their having to be there.
Aries intends to watch some Rated R movies with his kids. Saving Private Ryan, needs to be seen, but, oh, it's inappropriate for children.
Ladies and gentlemen, the world is Rated R. This world is NOT suitable for children under seventeen.
The FCC and the World Federation of Soccer Moms needs to get used to that, stop trying to pass the blame off on other people, and TAKE RESPONSABILITY FOR THEIR OWN CHILDREN.

The FCC isn't entirely evil (they are the people that brought use the freedom of Information Act, after all). Communications is a hufe part of daily live in America.
Very nice. Anyway, my point is that the FCC itself isn't an institution to rage at, rather, the Orwellian forces working together and within it.

Sure, I would've been a different kid perhaps if I had not played Mortal Kombat 3 when I was, say, around 6 but after going through what I've done, seen the punishment it can cause, and the like I've started becoming a more focussed person and my parents have helped in parts.
But, in all, it's just wrong to blame videogames. I remember the time in Metal Gear Solid when Meryl was saying how she hesistated before shooting an enemy, but felt nothing in training. I've said that to say that parents should let their kids know that just because you can get away with it in a virtual reality, doesn't mean you can do it for real and get away with it, for there's no "Less Felony" code in life.

For the most part, those who don't like games in the article is what? Anyone? Democrats and Defense Lawyers. But are they really that stupid? I mean, when I bought Way of the Samurai, I had to show my ID, because I look young, and they don't mention the fact that it is the parents who buy the games for their kids, hell, I remember a time at Best Buy where a cashier told a mother that Grand Theft Auto should not be bought for her young son, and I quote,
"It's just a game, I know what I'm doing."
Funny thing is that's what every parent thinks when they buy a Mature title, that it's just a harmless game, and yet, they turn around and say that Video Games are a bad influence.
btw, was "hufe" supposed to be huge?

Ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is a simple case of "I'm a good parent, because I let the media raise my kid" syndrome. It seems that this syndrome has been taking the nation by storm, as parents are neglecting their children; Sitting them in front of a television set while they do something more "worthwhile" than raising their own damn kid. How many hours do you think that those government officials and important businessmen and women spend with their children. I'd say the time is pretty slim. If people would get off their ass and teach their own damn kid some life values, the world would be a much better place. You wouldn't have kids shooting other kids in school, kids becoming JDs, kids doing drugs. Instead, you'd have kids who love and respect their parents, and helping each other. I'd guarantee it. *The crowd gasps at the sudden ray of wisdom that has shone down upon them.* No, its not wisdom, its just common sense. If your kids actually had some contact with their parents, and weren't left to stare blankly at the talking man in the box for hours and hours, day after day, then they might try to crack tough life problems instead of cracking skulls when angry. They'd be doing productive things instead of destructive things. I'm not saying that video games don't corrupt children. They might. But if you counter some of that media violence with real-life care, they won't grow to be fucked up individuals.' (Btw, I love the way politicians mainly rip on video games and not violent movies. But, there's an easy answer to that. Politicians watch violent movies, but don't play violent games. )
