Just who is this "Xtermo" fellow, you ask? Well, you've come to the right place to find the answer. Plus a whole lot of other funny stuff you might not have known about.
Now! Back in the 7th grade, I was required to come up with an alphabet poem- that is, a poem constructed such that each word begins with the letter of the alphabet corresponding to its position in the poem.
Imagine my plight upon coming to "X". Where was I going to get a non-cliche word that started with that? So, instead of going to get a dictionary, I instead did what any kid would do, and made up a new word, that word being "Xtermo". (On a lesser note, this was the same year I began sending annonymus messages online under the highly imaginative guise of "Mr. X")
What I didn't know then was that in 3 years, upon meeting MR, that word would come to be a character I would use in more than his fair share of roleplaying situations.
And now you may be wondering just why all this belongs here, instead of in shameless advertising or some other spot. The answer is-
This week, we've been doing some recarpeting at my place, which has had me boxing up years worth of old crap I've had stowed away. Among other things, I recovered a "highlights" collection of a roleplaying comic of sorts which was never really titled, but instead known merely as "The Note" by its proprieters.
I'd like to here, pending of course the permissions of my co-authors, post scanned images of The Note, along with commentaries and a general guide to the plot (if it can really be called a plot at all). Specifically, I want the green light from MR. (Also, any remnants of it that MR or Vel still have and would like to see posted, if you could get them to me, could be put up here.)
And now, some pre-posting facts about The Note:
In the Sophomore year of my attendance of one of the local public high schools, I chanced to have MR in the same English class as myself. This was an unusual class perhaps, because the teacher was fulfilling the last year of her commitment to teach before retiring, and was thus not interested in the goings on of the class, so long as it remained quiet enough to allow for her to read whichever novel she had chosen for that day.
So there we were, with nothing to do but study or read or do something quiet. It was pretty dull in there, with the exception of when we would watch movies. And whenever this was the case, it was a safe bet that MR and I, from the back of the class, would be writing a full commentary of the movie in MST3K style. (For those of you unfamiliar with Mystery Science Theater- man, you suck. Go watch some now!)
From these commentaries, a regular written exchange began which, with time, morphed from being on the topic of what crap was going on in our lives at the moment into a complete roleplaying story developed with characters and ideas borrowed from the MSPB, among other things. Thus a lost legend in comedy was begun...
